I don't know about members of the 5th Tn. escorting his wife to Mexico but he did go to Mexico after the war. S.W. Alexander was a first sergeant with the 5th Tennessee Infantry. Some of the 5th Tennessee were from Henry County (Paris), where Isham G. Harris's home was at the start of the war, so there could be some truth to that part about the escort.
