Thanks for your help. If a soldier was in that hospital for ten months and not wounded, would there be a record besides his own service record? Also, would it have been possible for such a man to be thrown into the battle and be Van Cleve's orderly? I am trying to match history with common sense and am finding some serious roadblocks.
Another question. Was Rosencrans actually at this battle or nearby?
