Re: 7th Tenn. Cav. surrender in 1865

Hello. Thanks for the response.
As usual your answer was helpful.
In fact you give me credit for wanting more than I had in mind to be honest. I am sorry but I do not know enough to know what to ask nor do I know when I am off on the wrong track.
What I had in mind was did the guys actually surrender in Gainsville or did they ride out?
That would mean something to me.
I was interested in if say Bedford Forrest was in charge of say 300, or even 1000 men when the time to surrender came. I do not understand the military so I needed just a number.
You answered the question regarding surrender, that the men of the 7th were expected to stay and do the surrender properly was an answer that I needed.
Apparrently there is not a Tennessee site where you can check. In Arkansas where I reside, there is a wonderful site which you can check out for informaiton.
As I said, I was interested in Company B of the 7th Cav-major actions. I know so little, even the high points would be good.
Thanks a bunch for trying to help me. You are very kind.
Linda
