While researching one of my ancestors, I found his Civil War pension application as well as record of his burial on a Nashville National Cemetary website.

I would like to trace what part of the military he was in but not sure what the "C 2 U.S. CAV" and "A 2 Tenn Inf" means? I understand he was in the Calvary as well as Infantry but not sure what company/regiment/etc he was in.

Can anyone help decipher this for me?
