Jim Lewis MTCWRT :

I wish to thank you for publishiong the story of "Busharts
and Kentucky 1861-1865 ". I further wish to express my appreciation to place in history a family that was originated prior to the constitutional history of the United States. This survey of the Civil War shows firmly that a family divided North and South and subjected to the politics and philosophies of the Civil War tried to destroy each other militarily, and, in fact, did so. Two Confederates were killed in action and three Union died, all had exceptional service records. All of these men were the great, great grandsons of the four Bushart brothers that migrated from Germany. The one final result of the war is that it made us all Americans, constitutionally, one together. None of them died in vain as the result of the war and their courage and loss made a better country.

Thank you.

Jim Bushart, St. Louis, Missouri
