I don't recommend going this route, but you can read through microfilm of Camp Morton records found in Selected Records of the War Department Relating to Confederate Prisoners of War, 1861–1865 (National Archives Microfilm Publication M598). Reels 99-103 relate to prisoners held at Camp Morton and are available for purchase through Heritage Quest. All relevant material found here should already be in this man's service file.
