Re: Confederate " Soldier Home " in East Tenn.

Bob, thanks so much for your interest and willingness to help. I found that info in the index of Confederate widow's pensions. I have a Copy of James' pension request that was approved abt 1906. He was living in Greene County at the time. The 1880 census has him there. " brakeman on the railroad " as his occupation. He was in pretty bad shape by 1905. In the doctor's words " the old soldier can't care for himself and deserves a pension." My Land roots are in Western North Carolina, mainly in Wilkes County where James was from. I doubt he was taken back there for burial. He says his family came here to East Tennessee in the mid-1850's. His father and my g,g,grandfather were brothers. I thought there may have been a Veterans Home with a cemetery in the Knox County area. Thanks again and God Bless !!!!

Glenn
