Strahl was from Ohio. As a young lawyer, he and Daniel Reynolds came down from the north, Strahl settled in Dyersburg, Reynolds in Arkansas. Both became CS BG's, Strahl KIA at Franklin, Reynolds losing a leg at Bentonville, of all places and times. There's a THQ article on Strahl that is very informative.

Strahl was buried at St. John's Ashwood outside of Columbia with Cleburne, Strahl's staff officer Lt. John Marsh, and others. IIRC, in 1870 or so, he was removed to Dyersburg.
