Hello, my name is Joe Sobek, and I am a Civil War buff and author. My first book, Anger of the Guns (not Civil War based), was published last April, and I am currently working on my next two novels. One of these I plan on writing as a historical fiction on the Iron Brigade at Gettysburg. Although I have enough resources to, to the best of my ability, portray the Union men in a factual light, I have come up short on research on their Confederate adversaries, of which I planned to use one of my points of view as that coming from the 14th Tennessee infantry on day one in McPherson's Woods. As of right now, the only specific problems I have are those of regiment positioning moment-by-moment on day one. Feel free to email me and/or respond on this message board. Any hints or suggestions on where to find additional resources on the 14th Tennessee would be greatly appreciated so that I can represent these men in their correct historical light. Thank you.
