POW's in 80 Acres of Hell

Good advice on research Alan and I appreciate the help you gave me.

And I also read the book and it appeared very even handed, quite clinical in some descriptions of the horror. As stated correctly by Linda above, it was preventable cruelty used to inflict hardship on prisoners of war by the Lincoln regime. The senseless treatment of the Union soldiers does not mitigate the brutality of the guards or the camp commanders, not one wit. The History Channel documentary, '80 Acres of Hell', was based on this book.
