I also had a ggggf captured at Donelson with the 9th Battalion Tennessee Cavalry but they sent him 1st to Terre Haute at the Williams Hog Pen(where he was shot in the forehead but some unknown party from outside the walls but survived only to have the wound kill him 30 years after the war)and then to Camp Morton at Indianapolis.And another grandfather with Johnson's Texas Spy Co.captured at Arkansas Post in Jan.63 and sent to the rat hole at Camp Douglas.He was exchanged in May 63 and sent to Petersburg,Va.where he spent three months in the hospital recovering form whatever disease he caught there.The records say,"Dibilitis," but whatever it was killed him and his wife 3 months later after he got back to Texas.As you can imagine,I do not have a very high regard for Terre Haute and Chicago.
