Re: POWs in Camp Douglas, a comment

I just found Richard Greer is buried in the Confedearte Cemetery in Newnan Ga- where he is listed as 11th TN, Inf. Co. H. And you have just solved the mystery of how he died. I will be eternally thankful. I have tried to look up Garrett's book tonite, got caught in an internet wild goose chase.
Does it say any more about Nathan? He is not a Nathaniel, only Nathan. You have made my Greer relatives heroes to us all. Our family could really use this as my Grear Grandfather, they changed the name later Greer to Grear, for some unknown reason, after Nathan died, well, my grandfather John E. Grear, drank himself to death in a fancy Hot Springs hotel. The Grear side is riddled with stories like his. And to think, his grandfather and atleast 3 great uncles were CSA soldiers. Amen!
