Some of my ancestors from Tennessee involved in the War of 1812 and the Mexican-American War:

My great, great, great, grandfather Jeremiah Blanton married Sarah Womack near Ellenboro North Carolina. The Blanton and Womack fanilies migrated to East and Central Tennessee and one of Jeremiah and Sarah Blanton's sons, and my great, great, grandparents Joshiah and Mary (Westbrook) Blanton migrated to Texas in 1856. Joshiah Blanton died in Fannin County Texas in 1875.

Sarah Womack was the aunt of Michael Womack who settled in Warren County Tennessee. Michael Womack was one of two sharpshooters who shot and killed British General Sir Edward Pakenham in the Battle of New Orleans. Michael Womack was in Brig. Gen. John Coffee's Brigade of Tennessee Volunteers and the other sharpshooter was Jonathan Brank and was in Col. Carroll's Volunteer Regiment from Kentucky.

Benjamin Franklin Coffee was the first American Soldier killed in the battle of Monterrey in the Mexican-American War. He was in a Tennessee Volunteer Company and according to the after action report, he was in an advance guard and was killed on Sept.20,1846 and the battle started the next day. Benjamin F. Coffee was the son of Joshua and Jane "Jenny" (Trousdale) Coffee. Jenny Trousdale was the daughter of Gov. Trousdale of Tennessee, who was known as "The Warhorse of Sumner County"
