Conscript duty involved collection of conscripts for service in the army.

The 12^th and 16^th Tennessee Cavalry Battalions continued to serve to gether for the rest of the war. They were assigned to John C. Vaughn's Cavalry Brigade, part of which served in Virginia and Maryland in the summer of 1864, and part in Eastern Tennessee. The two different parts were reunited in October 1864.
