Re: 39th, 41st, 42, & 43rd Tenn Burials in Ga

George: I have visited many, many cemeteries in Georgia, but with respect to the few men of the 43rd whom I have cited, it appears that I used the Cemetery books for the respective counties. I live in South Carolina, but I have access to pretty good genealogical libraries in Athens, 1 1/2 hours away, and at Macon, 2 1/2 hours away. Georgia genealogy people have put out a number of the books in the past fifteen years. I have been to West Hill cemetery in Dalton, but looking at the small Confederate section there. I have not personally visited Chickamauga City Cemetery, and if I have been to Zion Hill I don't recall off the top of my head. The connection to the 43rd would have been cited from the tombstones. I wish I could be of more help. Its been pretty much hit or miss for me. I have compared burials for men from Georgia units raised from that geographic area.
I do not know what area thje 43rd was raised form. If it was from counties in the Chattanooga area, perhaps you could get an interlibrary loan of the cemetery books for some of the adjoining Georgia counties. There are a good county books for Catoosa (Ringgold), Walker (LaFayette), which goes into Chickamauga Military Park, and for Whitfield, which covers Dalton. The Northwest Georgia Genealogical Society (I think thant's the correct name), which I think is headquartered in Rome, also may be of some help. I live about 4-5 hours from that part of Georgia. Its hell to do this type of research living as far away as you do. Good luck.
