On page 181 of "Bluegrass Confederate, The Headquarters Diary of Edward O. Guerrant," he records on Nov. 27, 1862:

"Mr. Sam Jones formerly commanded a 'Camp of Direction' at Knoxville."

This statement just appears out of nowhere with no amplfying information.

I have never seen this term before, nor does a Goggle search help.

Would this be the same as "Camp of Instruction?"
