I live in Johnson County for the time being. The Civil War in this county was truly a Civil War. Johnson County was almost totally Union. Confederates were outcasts in this county and had to go elswhere to enlist in the Confederate Army. The only regular CS Army unit to be formed from here was Co. A, 6th North Carolina Cavalry. Any fighting done here was between guerillas. What is known as "Bushwhacking". I have quite a bit of info on this subject. If you like I can get it to you.
