T.B.

I saw your post about being in Bristol. I am in Shady Valley. I have quite a bit on the history and units of this area. I am a native of Saltville, Virginia and my ancestors were all Confederate. Though not normally known, this area was very important to the Confederacy during the war, being right on the Virginia-Tennessee Railroad. I, and our group, The Grayson Blue/Gray Society, have a renactor unit of CSA Artillery. Please check our site at:

Levi's-Barr's Battery of the Thomas Legion fought at Zollicoffer, provided security for the V-T RR, and fought in the East Tennessee Campaign and both battles at Saltville before going to Petersburg in December of 1864. They were decimated at Sayler's Creek on April 6, 1865 along with the rest of Stapleton Crutchfield's Artillery Brigade, in Custis Lee's Division.

If you like contact me and I can send you info on the area's involvement in the war.
