East TN Fort?

Hi everyone!
Years ago my father told me of running a milk route in the countryside about Knoxville when he was a boy accompanying his uncle. The route involved them visiting farmers and picking up the "creme" to take back to the dairy, and as they drove along, his uncle pointed out a place in the mountains which was very slowly being filled up by water to make a lake, presumably by the TVA. The place pointed out revealed a wooden stockade fort which was, over time, made to disappear by the ever rising water. Dad was born in 1924 so this would probably have been witnessed in the mid 1930s I suppose. WOuld anyone have any idea what fort this may have been?
Thank you,
Roy McGill Jr.
