Mr. Brown,

I have a couple of recommendations on your photos. It would be good if you could provide when the photo or engraving was made (examples: Antebellum, early war, late war, circa 1880, etc). Another technique is to list their age at the time of the war or in the 1860 Federal Census (example: 30 years of age, 1860 Federal Census). I think it gives a false sense of time reference to folks when they see a picture of a geriatric man and they do not realize that the person was a teenager or in their 20's when the war was fought. Many of your photos are in the late 1800's. Unfortunately, this is reinforced when they go to a reenactment and all they see are rotund and aged men. It makes it difficult to tell the story of hardship, starvation, and youthful energy of rebellion when the front men are 50+ years of age, 100 lbs overweight, and hair white as snow.

Also, you may want to list the source of the photos. The engravings were obviously taken from books. This may keep you out of copyright hot water if someone wanted to raise a stink about it.

I hope this helps.

Respectfully,
