Hello, my ancestor J.C. (I believe James Calvin) Maynard is supposed to have fought in the Civil War. He was born 1840 of unknown parents. Married Elizabeth Dennizen in Lincoln Co (maybe Cyruston township) on 25 Aug 1865 and they were divorced in Lincoln Co in 1876.

Another ancestor John Syler who married a Sarah Catherine unknown last name lived in Lincoln Co and suppossedly also served.

I have looked in the soldiers and widows pensions of the state of Tennesse and can't find anything.

I am new at this and don't know where else to look to find if they actually did serve and where.

Any help would be appreciated.
