According to UDC records, the following Tennesseean is buried in the Confederate Section of Elmwood Cemetery, Columbia, SC.

R. Campbell, Tennessee, died 12 Feb 1865.

Stevenson's division from the Army of Tennessee arrived in Columbia about the 10th of February to try to stop Sherman's march on the city, but the Confederate forces, grossly outnumbered, were forced to fall back. There was a little skirmish at Congaree Creek the day before the city fell, but it would appear that Campbell probably died of disease in one of the Confederate hosptials in the city.
