From an early recollection written about the 15th Tennessee Infantry Co. E, "Madrid Bend Guards" from a newspaper I have from Obion Co, TN that was reprinted:

There is an excerpt that talks about a William Harper about 23 yrs of age..Wealthy & refined..Killed at Shiloh..They wrote they thought his parents were dead, and he had been living with his Uncle Billy Harper, Sr, a wealthy farmer at Madrid Bend right before the war..

My great-grandfather served in this unit and helped write the newspaper article..

This would be the William Harper family on the 1860 Obion Co, TN Census Dist 4 that Alan referred you to, previously..
