Hello. I am intersted in learning more about the 5th Tenn. Inf.
Would someone be kind enough to point me in that direction? I am interested in what battles besides Shiloh did they take part in.
I am interested in a man named James Thomas Harper who was probably from Benton County-is that Jackson- in Tennessee. He was wounded at Shiloh and probably down in around Atlanta.
He was born in Jan. of 1840 and died in Arkansas in August of 1928. If I could find that local cemetery book, I could be more specific. His grave is marked saying 5th Tenn. and the company, but that company information has escaped my memory.
I am getting ready to retire and I am such a history nut, that I feel sure I will be hot on the trails of someone for the rest of my life.
