Study the website for the History and Genealogy Branch listed below. You might want to contact them in advance stating your areas of interest.

If you know the units to which your men were attached to, you can go directly to the microfilm rolls of their respective regiments to view and print copies of their records. If you don't have that information and have a copy of Tennesseans in the Civil War available you can find out there which unit they were associated with.

I would believe they'd have the complete 40 volume set of the Confederate Veteran magazine published from 1893 to 1932. Accompanying that is a three volume index which you can search out names, units, etc. Lot of interesting information there.

Also of much interest are the Tennessee Civil War Veterans Questionnaires. These were conducted circa 1920. You might find one of your ancestors there.

Check the one volume Index to Tennessee Confederate Pension Applications.
Your folks and/or their widows may have filed for pensions. Again, you can view and print these off microfilm rolls.

They also have on microfilm some of the local period newspapers. You can purchase copies of these if you wish.

You might find in their manuscript section documents of some of the more prominent officers of your regiments.

Take some dollars along for printing documents.

I have seen researchers at various libraries bring their laptops and scanners which can be very useful.

I have found the staff to be very helpful.

Also, a few blocks away is the Tennessee State Museum. They have some nice displays along with a number of CW flags under the direction of
