I'm doing research for a historical novel.
One of the families in my novel would be East Tennessee unionists. I'm thinking Father would be a newspaper editor who would somehow end up dieing as a result of his support. One son would join the Federal army one the Confederacy. Their sister would marry a soldier who was friends with her Unionish brother and had originally come from Utah after riding for the pony express, joining the army in Claifornia, and meeting her brother in California where he was serving in the army.

Any tips on good research sources?
