Re: JOHNSON'S ISLAND POW CAMP INFO...

3rd Lt. RICHARD D. COPASS, Company E 60th Tennessee Mounted Inf. He was Captured May 17, 1863 at the battle of BIG BLACK RIVER BRIDGE.He died a prisoner of war on Johnson's Island the following August. Last year 2 of my cousins visited the restored site and decorated Richard's grave with American, Tennessee, and Confederate flags. They then loudly sang "DIXIE." The guide with them said it was the first time for him to meet anyone related to any of the soldiers buried there. Richard was a younger brother of my maternal g,g,grandmother, Cynthia Copass Cox. the 2 cousins,Donna Briggs and her brother Jeff Cox were paternal g,g,grandchildren of Cynthia. Thanks for honoring the Confederates of Johnson's Island.

Thanks,

Glenn Land
