Thank you for your response. No, John Diffee and his brother, William Diffee, both served in the 27 TN Inf. I was just looking for the date of John Diffee's death, now I believe in was in 1914. But I need the documented proof. There were 19 Diffees who served in the Confederate cause and I found one lone yankee. I claim them all. They are all descendants from William Diffee, from Randlph County, NC,ca. 1732. The Diffee name is spelled different ways.
