Major William Hooper Harris

Just in case someone is interested, this appeared in the Mobile Press Register 8/11/1908:

"Yesterday afternoon shortly after 11 o'clock, while in the corridor of the St. Andrews hote, Major William Hooper Harris was taken with a spell of heart failure......He revived and seemed to be recovering, but of a sudden fell back dead.

Born in TN in 1835, he had served in the TV calvary during the civil war. After the war, he was a NY businessman in Nashville.Then he moved to AK and then to Mobile. He was a very active and enterprising amn even down to his last days, being engaged in a paving operation of some magnitufe."
