Re: Jack Daniels in the Civil War

Jasper Newton's older brother Wiley Butler Daniel (1842-1931) did serve in the Civil War(Company E, First Tennessee Confederate Infantry raised at Lynchburg), and at Lookout Mountain among other places.

Jack & Wiley's parents Calaway & Lucinda Daniel are buried near Lynchburg, as are their grandparents Joseph & Elizabeth Calaway Daniel. "Jack" is buried in the Lynchburg city cemetery.

I would like to hear more about how your Daniel relatives are connected to the Lynchburg bunch. If what my cousin believes & if the genealogy of Felix W. Motlow is correct, Jasper Newton Daniel is my first cousin three times removed.

My direct ancestor and gg-grandfather is Robert C. Daniel buried on Daniel Hollow in Moore County Tennessee, whose grandson and son-in-law served in the Company C, Twenty-Third Battalion, Tennessee Infantry, CSA.

My cousin still lives on Daniel Hollow.

Hoping to hear more,

Clay Daniels
