Helen --

Andrew Dusold enlisted as a private in Co. "B", 35th Missouri Regiment, Aug. 7, 1862, at age 34. On Oct. 28, 1862, he was elected 2nd Lieutenant of Co. "H". Dusold served with his company on garrison duty at Helena and Arkansas Post AR until receiving a discharge from U.S. service for disability on May 24, 1864. After returnnig to Missouri, he become Captain of Co. "A", 43rd Missouri, an enrolled militia command --

As you can see, this regiment formed part of the garrison of St. Josephs MO.

Capt. Dusold was discharged at the end of the war. It doesn't appear that he ever served east of the Missisippi River.

You would do well to have this officer's military service file. Copies are available here --
