I am looking for information about my 2great grandfather who enlisted in Company C of Forrest's Third Calvary Regiment on December 10, 1863, and mustered April 12, 1864; according to internet sources I have been able to discover. Remarks made on several websites indicate that Private Blackburn was killed by guerrillas in Hardin County on March 28, 1865. There is little information on my Blackburn side of the family, which has always proven frustrating to me personally. His spouse M E Blackburn and son D B were located on the Atlanta 1870 census, she as a housekeeper and he as a boy of 9 years. Curiously, no application for widow's pension has as yet been discovered in my research. From what I can tell, no battle seems to have occurred around March 28, so I am wondering if perhaps there is only an unmarked grave. Any assistance would be much appreciated.
