I would like to formally welcome you to our discussions and would like to apologize for the somewhat heated response to the postings regarding Tom McKenney's “Jack Hinson’s One-Man War”. Unfortunately, as I'm sure you know, the discussions of the border war and Civil War irregular warfare, in general, can still inspire a contentious and emotional response. I hope you will not be put off by the reaction and I would ask that those who have "engaged" you might dampen or cool their enthusiasm, to some degree.

I am honored by your participation and I think, should you decide to continue to interact with our group of amateur historians, genealogists and approximately 100 published authors, you will find the experience rewarding and enlightening.

I am currently adding you to our History-Sites.Com "Contributing Authors" page and I hope our visitors and contributors will read some of your outstanding work. I am particularly intrigued by your book on the USS Olympia. As a teenager, about thirty years ago, I constructed a model of the Olympia and was fascinated by the stories of the Spanish American war and the Great White Fleet.
