Stones River National Battlefield was hit by one of the two tornadoes that hit near Murfreesboro, TN this past Friday. A park ranger friend told me that the twister came down through Tour Stop Three, through the Round Forest then through Tour Stop One and the Hazen Monument and cemetery. All of this was just south of the park's visitor's center which was not damaged thankfully.

Hundreds of trees are down all over the park as well as debris from the many homes that were destroyed nearby. It will take some time to get a full assessment and then the long cleanup will begin. For now I am told that all driving and hiking trails are closed until further notice.
