A new book, James Baggett's "Homegrown Yankees" (LSU Press, 2009), also has a bit of information about the E. Tenn. Campaign(s), centering naturally enough on the Union Tennessee cavalry's contributions. There is a chapter on Bull's Gap.

Also, you mentioned your interest in the Sooy Smith part of the Meridian Expedition... the book also goes into that, esp. the Battle of Okolona.
