Keith,

Tennessee had two predominantly Irish regiments. The 10th Tennessee was raised in Middle Tennessee (with at least one company from my county) and it was commanded by a Prussian - Adolphis Heiman! The Lt. Col. Wwas Randall McGavock, whose house, Carnton, stands today at Franklin.

The second regiment was Walker's 2nd Tennessee (not the 5th). It is called Walker's 2nd and there is also Bate's 2nd Tennessee which was another Middle TN regiment. Walker's 2nd Tennessee, after Shiloh, merged with what was left of the 21st Tennessee and formed the 5th Confederate Infantry, I believe the only "Confederate" regiment that was all from one state. Usually they are made up of companies from two or more. Walker's 2nd TN was from the Memphis area and first fought at Belmont in November, 1861.
