The Tennessee in the Civil War Message Board

Thank You LCMDR Martin!

Lieutenant Commander Martin,

I just wanted to thank you for your responses to my recent inquiry about the 64th NC Infantry. The information that you so kindly supplied me with, was the catalyst for launching me toward a different angle in my research.

So far the product of this effort has been the confirmation that many members of what would have been the cavalry companies of the once planned "Allen's Legion", wound up in other cavalry units when the planned "Legion" was cut back to a regiment (64th NC). These cavalry outfits included Carter's 1st TN Cav Reg, Neal's 16th TN Cav Battalion, and another focus of my research, Day's 12th TN cav battalion.

But even more important to me personally, was the knowledge of how this move affected my Gramps progression from the 64th to the 12th.

This connection has been very important to me, and this "ole Buck Sgt." just wanted to say a Big THANK YOU!!!

This just goes to further illustrate the value of this wonderful site, and it's contribution to the study of the WBTS. (by the way, LCMDR, those Navy ranks are a scream)

Thank you sir!

ROY
