Re: 2nd Battalion Tennessee Cavalry Co. C

Paul,

You probably noticed also in Lyndsley's Annals that this same unit, the 1st.Tennessee Cavaly under Colonel James T.Wheeler had in addition to the first soldier killed in the AOT but also claims the last at Henry Court House,Virginia.Elements of Colonel Wheeler's 1st.Tennessee and Major James H.Akin's 9th.Tennessee Battalion were ordered north to open communications with General Lee's Army of Northern Virginia. It was at Henry Court House near the present Martinsville,Virginia of today that a clash with Stoneman's Raiders occured. The southern troopers were at first surprised but rallied and drove the federals back with great loss in one of if not the last engagement less some minor skirmishing of the Army of Tennessee.
