4 Reg't Tenn Cav

Has anyone had an ancestor re-enlist in the Civil War in a different regiment? I have an Alvy/Alva James from Statesville, Tenn. discharged from the 7th Tennessee Infantry on 20 Aug 1862. I have one record of Alvy James POW and three records of an A. James POW. Both records state he was captured in Statesville, Tenn. in Wilson County in the spring of 1863. According to Soldiers and Sailors Civil War Records, he is found in a 4th Regiment, Tennessee Cavalry, not to be confused with three other's(Branner's, McLemore's, and Murray's)bearing the same name. If anyone can prove these are not the same individual, please let me know. And, if anyone has any history of this regiment, please share. Thanks to all who share, Ron.
