Re: Death of Capt. Samuel L. Freeman at Franklin

Greg and Alan,

I've been to the site of where Capt. Freeman's battery was captured and he was killed a number of times and have metal detected the area a number of times and have a number of bullets, a button, and various others things from the area. There is no monument on the site at which he was killed and the one that was erected two or three years ago was placed elsewhere due to them being denied permission to place it where he was killed because the family that owned the field was in the midst of selling the farm to a large development company out of Memphis. Back in '92 before I graduated high school, I met with a gentleman that owned the old Dr. Oden house that appears on the maps and he had found a number of cannister or grapeshot balls that he had found in his field. If anyone would like to visit the site, just let me know.
