Patton's Company, 1st Regiment Tennessee Infantry*, enlisted April 29. 1861 at Altamont, Tennessee by Captain Patton for 12 months, , recorded on the Nov. & Dec., 1861 muster roll as present, last paid October 31, no further records, the next bi-monthly muster roll for Company A was for the period Sept. & Oct., 1862, we must therefore assume that he was dropped from the rolls for any number of reasons and recorded on one of the intervening four musters which did not survive to be recorded in the Compiled Service Records [There are no other similar spellings of his name on the roster]

Griswold, Private, Company L, 11th (Holman's) Regiment Tennessee Cavalry, enlisted at McMinnville, Tennessee, deserted near Whitesburg March 10, 1863, captured as a deserter in Grundy County, Tenn. July 4, 1863, received at Rock Island Barracks Illinois from Camp Chase, Ohio prison camp January 23, 1864, listed as from Company E, 4th Tennessee Cavalry, subscribed to the Oath of Allegiance to the U. S. at Rock Island October 18, 1864, description: age 20, resident of Altowah, Tenn., light complexion, light hair, blue eyes, 5' 7", enlisted in the U. S. A., but was rejected by the mustering officer, released October 18
