I am curious about a final discharge date noted on a soldier's last muster roll card. In the case of Alvy James of Tennessee's 7th Infantry Company F, he has a final time period dated from April 30 to August 31, 1862 with another discharge date of August 20, 1862. Alvy James completed his one year service in May 1862. His company was reorganized in April of 1862 with one year coming to completion. Was Alvy James' last day of service in April when his company reorganized? When should I speculate his last month of obligation? I am trying to determine his last battle he would have been involved in.
