LEVI's Battery or LEWIS' Battery

Perhaps someone could help me with this...

I am researching one of my Gramps named Robert Sellers, who, in FEB of 1863 became a Confederate Private in Co. D of Col. Love's Infantry Regiment in Thomas' Legion. From his CMSR I know that in July or August of 1863, he was transferred to Capt. Levi's Battery, also a part of the Legion.

There is a record of a Confederate POW named Robert Sellers who was captured in an unreported location, but released 27 FEB 1864 in KNOXVILLE TN on order of Maj. Genl. Grant. The record indicates that he was of either "Lewis's Battery" or "Levi's Battery" when Union forces took him (looks like LEWIS, but ???) . I am trying to determine whether this is MY man in Capt. LEVI's Btty. or ANOTHER man of same name in "Lewis' Batty". I don't know anything of Capt. LEWIS' Artillery, so I don't know if a CSA soldier captured from their outfit would've been released in Knoxville or not. If anyone knows which state LEWIS' Artillery is from or anything else about them, I'd appreciate reading about it.

Grandpa's CMSR says he deserted 2 Sept 1863, but if this is him in the POW record, it may, at least partially, explain his absence.

Thank you very much in advance!!!

Roy
