Franklin Civil War Round Table

On Sunday, March 13 at 3 P.M., at the Williamson County Library in Franklin, the Franklin Civil War Round Table will present “Scenes from SCATHE: A Civil War Incident in Middle Tennessee.”

Confederate General Earl Van Dorn was a well-known and effective commander of cavalry, but his off duty judgment, or sometimes lack of it, produced much colorful gossip. This was especially true in the spring of 1863 when his infamous “liaison” with one of Spring Hill’s most prominent ladies led to one of the most talked about local incidents of the War.

Dr. Deanne Collins, herself a Round Table member, and her cast will present portions of her dramatic play with music, SCATHE. The play, its title referencing injury, brings to life how an entire town is injured by both the Van Dorn affair and the greater tragedy of the War.
