George forgot to mention the Yahoo Group of the 31/st/39th Tennessee that exists. It is free to join and there is quite of few descendents of men of the 39th Tennessee Mounted Infantry. There are numerous pictures of some of the soldiers from the regiment. So, please join up. Also, my book, "Suffered Greatly By Privations" is available on Amazon.com It is the history of the regiment, alont with the roster and all available info, from the National Archives, available on each soldier. I recently found a copy of J.M. Biggs' journal and have transcribed it.
George, you mentioned that the Hynds' diary is an abridged version?? I have a photo copy of this diary, during his stay at Vicksburg. Is there more to his diary, I hope? Would be nice to have more info out there on the experiences of this regiment.
