I know that according to the 1850 Census, George W. McGuire and Rachael Mcguire have a son listed named John (no middle initial). He is listed as 14 years of age and very well could be your John. How do you know that his parents were named George and Rachael? I am interested in the older brother named Cornelius. He may be the husband of Mary Ann Cody that married each other in 1858. I cannot really find much else on this family.
