The Tennessee in the Civil War Message Board

Re: Sullivan County Home Guards

Been doin some more research. Henry C. and Issac Nave are mentioned in Ellis'book. From the Civil War Soldier and Sailor Search System I found the following : Private Issac Nave Company K, 61st Tenn. Inf. Private Henry V. Nave ( probably a mistake on the middle initial.) Coporal, Companies B & H, 26th Tennessee Inf. ( 3rd East Tenn. Vols )Later Henry served with Capt.Mclinn's Tenn. Vols ( local defense ) If I had to guess I'd say both men were captured and " paroled." Rather then return to their commands after being " exchanged " they chose to serve in the " Home Guard " or Sullivan County Reserves untill their encounter with Daniel Ellis.

Hope This Helps,

Glenn
