Keith,
I've not researched battles in the area, but there was guerilla activity. My GGGF was a Union Assistant Surgeon with the 15th US Colored Infantry. I have much documentation from official records and newspaper accounts of him and his ambulance driver being ambushed and murdered. They were traveling from Springfield back to Nashvilled when attacked near Goodlettsville. This happened on Sunday, July 24th, 1864. My GGF, unarmed, was taken down a lane, stripped and "shot through the head and body" as was his driver. The driver survived at least a few days but I've not found any further info on him. The ambulance was burned, and even the team shot.
