Pace Brothers of Garland ,Texas
In Response To: Dallas County Texas Vets ()

Curtis Flatt,

Bless you. I am impressed with your massive study: all of the marked CSA veterans' graves in Dallas County. Are you preparing this data for publication? What a great contribution to Texas history.

In your listing, do you have three Pace brothers who mustered into Company L, 4th Virginia Regiment in Blacksburg, Montgomery County, VA? Of the 350 men who were mustered into the 4th VA Regt, only 75 survived -- three were these Pace brothers. Soon after the War, they moved to Garland,Texas where they raised families -- most descendants are still there. All three were buried in the Masonic Cemetery in Garland, I think (in my files.)

George Washington Pace (1839-1882)
Nicholas Featherstone Pace (1840-1910)
Vincent Franklin Pace (1843-1919)

My brother has documentation that states:

"George Washington Pace received an award for galantry at the Battle of Chancellorsville. It was decreed by Gen. Robert E. Lee that his and the names of the other reciptants be read at the muster of all units in the entire Confederate Army."

Are you any relation to H.P. Flatt?

Patti
