This gets very confusing. The Joseph W. is probably the right one as that was his name. The Pension Papers of Trinity County where his wife applied for a pension (was granted) states he enlisted in June 1863, served until close of War, in Company G, Pat Henderman's Regt. 31st Calvary. I believe the Charles Evans was related and stated Enlisted as a Private in Co. E, 7th Texas Calvary, October 4, 1861. Discharged at Wild Cat Bluff in Anderson Co., TX in spring of 1865. Since the only Joseph W. listed shows him in the 34th Calvary - guess that will be correct althought two witnesses signed affidavits that the seved in Hardeman's reg until close of war.
